Serial 9607 marked on side of upper barrel band. For auction i have a set of original k98 mauser barrel bands. These 3 waffenamts on the barrel was inspected at 3 different times during it's original fabrication. K98k (7.92 x 57mm) - Serial 9607 (f) (Mfg in 1940 by Mauser Werke AG, Oberndorf a/N) 2. It signifies that an official army inspector (as opposed to civilian manufacturing plant personnel) of the weapon inspector office inspected the part or assembly (for example, the assembly of the barrel, sights, and receiver) and approved it for inspection.

The Eagle over 214 (E/214) is known as a waffenamt inspection marking.
